About me

Hi, I am Sandrine, and I am a dahlia addict. I was always a flower lover and a hobby gardener, but in 2021 I started growing my own cut flower garden in my zone 5b urban backyard on the north shore of Montreal, QC, Canada. That year, along with many other kinds of flowers, I grew 11 different dahlias plants. I clearly caught the fever and, the year after, I was growing 30 varieties of that luscious flower. The summer after that, about 80 varieties. For the 2024 season, I plan to grow as much as I can fit in my urban lot and I guess we will soon have to move since my backyard doesn't fit my floral ambition anymore, haha.

I clearly always had a soft spot for flowers. Starting my own seedlings and growing my own flower patch makes me happy. I found it is an excellent remedy to stress and anxiety.

Besides dahlias, I grow hundreds of tulips in my garden, with many anemones, ranunculus, peonies and even roses. I also grow stock flowers, snapdragons, sweet peas, zinnias, celosias, among many others. I have about 144 varieties of flowers in my cut flower garden. Of course they do not grow all at once. Some have to leave their places to others throughout the season.

I am an autodidact gardener. I work hard and learn new techniques every year. I make it a point of honor to quarantine the new plants on their first season, to disinfect my tools between EACH plant and to order only from reliable flower farms and not big boxes. I created this website in order to share my overstock of tubers with fellow canadian gardeners since I have sooo many and my space is, to my regret, very limited.

In real life, I am the jewelry designer behind www.sandrinedevost.com
You are welcome to follow my journey on both sites!
